“I HAVE MY PHONE IN A CUSTOM CASE. WILL THE METAL PLATE ADHERE TO MY PHONE CASE. ALSO THE CASE MAKES MY PHONE HEAVIER, SO WILL THE WEIGHT OF THE PHONE CAUSE A PROBLEM TO HOLDING IT TO THE HOLDER.”

This will ensure the case does not act as a barrier and block the magnetic attraction between the metal plate and the magnets located in the mount. The adhesive on the metal plate can adhere to many different types of cases, including rubber and hard plastic cases.
