• For speedometer it requires the obd2 dlc.

• No this needs to be plugged into the ODB plug under the dash of newer vehicles. The 12 volt power adapter is for the GPS (north, south) function only not the speed. The speed only works if the ODB plus is plugged into the car.

• It works with GPS or obd2 port on newer cars. I purchased 2 & returned them both because there are a lot of android & iOS spedometer apps & they are free
