Yes. the hp g7-1338dx uses a SATA drive, the 1TB is SATA. The hp g7-1338dx came with a max size of 750 gig, so if you can clone the drive directly over, you can use any spare drive space on the new drive to make another partition.

I'm not sure. Read the specs on your computer it should tell you what size HD you need. The box doesn't say what size computer it fits
