There no moving parts in ssd's. This drive can make your computer up to 10x faster. 5-15 second boot up, 15 - 30 second restart time ( if there are no update that needs installed), and open most programs or apps instantly. Even open big programs like Quickbooks, and graphic design software in 2-5 second and not 15-90 second.

Laptop drives come in 5400, 7200 and 10,000 RPM speeds, plus hybrid variations at the same speeds. This should be a 7200 RPM bare-bones. This means you have to format the drive first C:/format. once that is finished, your good to back up the drive with windows, personal files etc. If you have not formatted the drive corectly you will get the word "Unavailable" try it again. do not be connected to the internet when you format. Most computer shops will do a diagnostic on your old drive for $29.95. A Good computer shop: they will simply credit the diagnostic to the repair if you let them do it. Good advice; if they can bring it back to life, give them your new drive and do a mirror transfer. keep the old one as a back-up. It will be the best $59.00 you'll ever spend.
