• It works between PC and a Macbook Pro for me. I cannot confirm that it would work for a Macbook Air, but I'd assume so.

• Sure it will. As long as you have the drive properly formatted to use on both operating systems, and the format of the files can be read by both the PC and Mac software. Files from Microsoft office should work, as would PDF's, JPEG, and other cross platform formats. Check a few to see before you eliminate all files from the host machine.
