“I have a Mac with OS X.6.8. I want to upgrade to the most recent software, but I want to backup to an external hard drive first. Would I be able to do that with this? I recently looked at one in a store that required at least OS x.6.9. Thank you”

• Yes, you should be able to. If you go into preferences and select it as the location that you want to save a backup to.
