Usually it comes with 1 year manufacture warranty if it breaks within the year of purchase you just contact Seagate and report it with your receipt. Best Buy offers Geek Squad Protection which is what I would recommend that would replace the whole thing if they cannot fix it. I always get that protection with all my electronics and its worth it, less hassle just bring it to bestbuy and if they can't fix it just grab a new one and exchange it.
