“can this be used for an iPad”

• It can be used for an iPad if it is connected to your router. I created an airport with mine and I can drop files from my iPad and iPhone with my home network.

• Nope, unless you have the iPad Pro that has an open usb plug.

• ipad doesn't have a USB port so you would need an adapter. you would be able to read from it with that but likely not able to write.
