The Plus for Mac works with Time Machine. I just plugged it in and my iMac did the rest.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Seagate Mac is configured to support the TimeMachine right out of the box. If you are using drag and drop or an application that supports storing backups to a network folder, then it should not matter which device you select.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the only difference between the two should be that the "For Mac" version comes already formatted Mac OS Journaled. Other than that there is no difference. If one of them has a faster rotation I'd buy that one. You should format it yourself anyway.
