The drive only connects to a Usb port on you computer, thus has nothing to do with any cloud service. The version of the drive you purchase will either be in MAC OS format or Windows format. If it's in Windows format, use the Mac Disk Utility to reformat it, and if you need to make it bootable and partition it, you can do it at time. The Mac OS version of the drive (I have bought both versions, depending upon what is available) you can again use the Mac Disk Utility to do whatever you need to do as far as re-partitioning and making it bootable.
