• You can attach it to a laptop or desktop. I don't think there is a disk that reads and writes to an iPhone without an adapter of some sort

• It's an external drive. You should be able to use it anyway you wish. As with any hard drive ... there is always some latency in spooling data back and forth. You should be good.
