To be honest, I only use my 8TB drive for backups of operating systems. I currently have not set up a server, mainly for security reasons. So, I hope I am correct in saying that my 8TB drive is accessible to any server that it might be connected too. But this is the answer I got from How to Geek, "Basically, it's a way to attach a hard drive to your network and make it accessible to all your devices for centralized file-sharing and backups. You could also use your NAS to make your files available to you over the Internet, using it as a remote file server you can access from anywhere." Retrieved 12/9/2018. How to Set Up a NAS (Network-Attached Storage) Drive https://www.howtogeek.com/.../how-to-set-up-a-nas-network-attached-storage-drive/. So I hope this helps for anyone that may need more storage for data. Jason H. Lindsey
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This unit is not designed as a NAS device. This has only a USB connection and connects to only one computer. A NAS would usually connect through an ethernet cable to a router so that multiple computers can share the storage on a network. If you want a NAS you should probably look for specific NAS storage device. I use this device as backup and storage for only one computer. Hope that helps.
