That's nonsense. A hard drive can be connected to any other computer. I don't know who told you that, but they don't know what they're talking about.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That isn't true at all. I'm guessing whoever gave you that information had no clue what they were talking about or you misunderstood. Without knowing the exact content (as in file types) to be transferred, I can't elaborate any further.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Usually when a computer 'crashes' it means the operating system software (Windows 7, etc) became fouled up or the hard drive itself failed. The rest of the computer might be OK. I would install a new harddrive (putting the other one aside) and reinstall Windows and my applications (office, adobe, java, framework, etc.) Of course for some of those programs you would need the install files and licensing information/codes. It is assumed you copied files from the harddrive to the Seagate 2T external hard drive before it failed, the files on there would be readable and could be used to the rebuild the programs and data on the new hardrive (withinn reason). (if you are talking about an ISO image file then that is something else) And you would want to test the potentially failed hard drive that was put aside by making it an external drive to see if anything could be recovered. Of course you might able to avoid this long procedure if it could be determined that the 'failed' harddrive might be recovered in place with 'recovery' software. But that is a store for another day. I apologize in advance if I missed your point as there may not have been enough information of the 'problem' to give a proper response.
