Yes it is. That's what I bought my second one for. Please note: IT WILL BE REFORMATTED FOR DISH, Anything on it will be erased! After that it will ONLY work on your Dish unless you reformat it on a PC. That's why I bought the second one. Transfer rate from the Dish DVR to the drive is a little slow, but it is a USB powered drive. The speed was much faster putting my recordings back onto my new Hopper.
