Yes. It can be used to update a PS4. All you have to do is google the instructions, and it will walk you through the installation. It easy to do. Just remove the old drive from the PS4, take the cover off of the new external drive and update your PS4

Yes. I've been using it this week and it's amazing. You will get a notification when you first plug it in that it isn't supported, but when you click on the notification, it will prompt you to format the drive. Just a heads up, make sure you are in the beta first. Otherwise you will have to wait for the update to roll out to everyone.

Yes. You would have to download the update from your laptop then connect it via USB to your ps4. If you have WiFi you could download the updates wirelessly on your ps4.

It should be able to. I formatted it & swapped out my original PS4 drive. Mine isn't one of the newer ones but they should work the same.
