Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Seagate Backup Plus Slim is simply an external hard drive. It draws its power from the device (computer, receiver) to which it is attached. I have not used it as a DVR, but according to the DISH website it can be connected directly to the Wally receiver via a USB cable and used to record one program at a time. However, in order for this to work you will most likely have to pay DISH a DVR activation fee. If not satisfied, you should be able to return it to Best Buy, but be sure to check out their return policy before purchase so you know what the terms are.
