Yes, I have used mine for three macs. You might want to set up a folder for each, but time machine will separate them, but you must download the software for the unit to each mac, with your macs, should be a walk in the park, using timemachine (((Or, as I did with my older G5 tower, you can transfer files via ethernet cable or wi-fi (use help function if you're not sure how) or through your router (I connected mine thru my router using the isp connection in network settings),))))
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You should be able to do this. Ideally, you would use Disk Utility to partition the drive into two logical drives. You can make one partition larger than the other if desired. Then select the appropriate partition with each Time Machine utility.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, as you say, as long as you don't exceed 1TB. Although there are various options on how, I would suggest creating two partitions, each matching (or exceeding) the sizes of the internal hard disks in your MacBook Pro and Air. And then make a bootable backup of each onto its own partition (using CarbonCopy, SuperDuper, or similar backup programs).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.IF you are just backing up data and running time machine then yes. You would create 2 different folders. I always recommend running time machine which requires its own external hard drive. It backs up your entire system
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You should be able to use one unit. You can even partition the HD on this product if you'd like.
