• Any external that your current iMac can read and copy to will work. You might even be able to use a USB flash drive if you don't have that much stuff to move.

• yes it can, but first you have to re-format unit to work correctly with OS X files, plug unit to mac and choose disk utility from apps, re-format to mac osX plus w/register, and thats all, unit will work on OSX macs.
