My drive(s) would sometimes disconnect from the USB 3.0 port while writing files, and give me a corrupted folder. The solution was to toss the USB 3.0 extension cable in the trash. Now it works fine! I copied a folder of about 150GB to the drive, at an average of 100MB/s rate, no problems. Don't use USB 3.0 extension cables! Apparently you need a short cable for USB 3.0 to work correctly. The extension cable I have for USB 2.0 works, but it slows down to KILOBYTES per second at times, so I wouldn't recommend those either.
