I know the answer to this because I promised the Seagate guy I'd get it for my next drive after they recovered my data for free.. It's a service they provide [and charge for] should something happen to the drive, to recover what ever data they can from it [still.. back up your back ups.. mine crashed inbetween backups and it failed because it got dropped onto a hard surface WHILE it was spinning...] THIS IS VALUABLE!

A system backup is not a backup of data. Data should be backed up on an external hard drive or flash drive. Another option is a system image backup, which I think includes operating system and data.
