• It's just a hard drive. Mostly depends on how smart your TV is. If you TV has a video player app and also supports the codec for the file types on your portable drive, then yes.

• It should, if your t.v has the usb port it should read it just fine, otherwise can't go wrong with connecting your computer to the t.v and playing the movies from the external on the pc to the t.v

• Well I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work. As long as you have a USB port on your TV, it should work just fine. Also, don't forget to check your TV settings and to select the proper 'source' from which your TV can detect the media files to be played.
