- Answer Tldr: this one is officially licensed for PS5. I spent a while looking into this, because I wanted to know the same thing. It seems the specs are identical as far as I can tell from Seagate's spec sheets. The NVMe vs M.2 naming is just semantics, they are identical interfaces. The only difference seems to be that this one is "Officially licensed for PS5" whereas the older model is not. - Answer For external storage on PS5. You can only Play Games off NVMe PCL Epress fromated Storage. You can store and tranfer PS5 digital games on HHD and SSD external devices, but you can not Play them. PS4 games xan be stored and played on USB 3.0 or Sata 2.1 connectivity External HDD and SSDs.

- Answer Me again (original poster). I decided to remove the heat sink. I had to use a hair dryer to get it off of the SSD. I would not recommend disassembling this. It voids the warranty and these SSDs run very hot without the heat sink. I was lucky that I didn’t damage the SSDs when removing the heat sink. I bought a very slim profile COPPER heat sink that is 1 mm high along with a heatsink adhesive pad. I hope to install it next week. These SSDs are very high quality. I decided to do this but would NOT recommend buying this for a laptop. Desktop or PS5, absolutely. Just don’t buy this for a laptop. I got lucky that it worked out for me.

QuestionDoes this work with the PS5 Pro? I installed it in mine and after it was done formatting, the listed read speed was around 1000mb less than the advertised 7400mb. I even tried reinstalling/reformatting it and neither of those increased the speed.
