It will fit perfectly; however unless you need 500gb I would spend the extra 23$ and buy their pny 240gb ssd. It will greatly improve the speed of your older laptop. To reinstall windows you need an 8gb USB or larger and a working computer. You can download windows 10 directly from Microsoft onto the USB stick.

When you download it, it will give you the option to make a USB boot disk (which you need an empty USB drive 8gb or larger). Since Windows 10 uses your motherboard hardware id as a key, you won't need a Windows 10 key to install (when it asks, just skip). After everything's installed, Windows will ask you to activate, just click activate and you should be good.
