NO, you don’t need a separate AV receiver. This soundbar has three HDMI inputs & one eARC output. You can connect all input to your TV or to the soundbar. I connected my streaming device, blue ray & gaming system to the soundbar & eARC output to my projector. I hope this helps you answer your question.
