• They mean that after a lot of time your earpads will become to old, very used and you'll be able to replace them easily.

• If you ever lose a pad, or need to replace one because its kind of grungy, spare pads can be ordered directly from the manufacturer. With most other headphone brands you would have to throw away the headphone and get a new one. This significantly extends the life of the headphone.
