My old Dyson had some really good filters. I have the shark Apex now. It has two dust filters in the top of the canister that work really good (one material and one thick foam) and one near the handle for the smallest particles which is basically a 2 inch piece of felt. It does collect a lot of black particles but I'm not sure if those are allergens.
