Once the vacuum is placed in the charging place, everything is cleared. Dog hair is completely removed from carpet, my carpet is not the tall fluffy one is the comon one that came with the house. Only one time we had to remove leftover, the rest of the time the mechanism does it on its own. Very content with this vacuum
