Hello Teresa, We are happy to inform you that you do not need to hold the power button in to use the Shark - ION™ F80 Cord-Free MultiFLEX®. You can press and release the power button to power it on. We would like you to know that the dust cup cannot be opened until the handheld portion of the vacuum is removed from the wand. The release button to open the dust cup is on the side of the handheld portion of the vacuum near the dust cup lid. We also want you to know that this great vacuum includes 2 ION Power Pack Batteries. We hope this information helps. The Customer Support Team

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The start button does not have to be held down, as with the Dyson. I had a Dyson and know what you are talking about. The button to empty the canister does not interfere with that, either. Yes, there are two batteries.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Start Button does NOT have to be held down. Once started you're good to go! And no, the button to empty the canister will not interfere with the Start Button! There are indeed two batteries!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The buttons are in very convenient positions all around and none interfere with another. And no you don’t have to hold down the start button to use it. That would be a huge annoyance for me and I wouldn’t keep the vacuum if it was designed that way. Definitely trade out the Dyson for this Shark! Even the suction power Dyson prides itself on is being tested hard by this product.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Stat button is touch and go, no need to hold. Separate touch buttons for smooth floors and another for carpet. Your canister release is at bottom of canister. You will need to detach from shaft to tease motor head with canister. Mine came with 2 batteries and a charging station but don’t know if that’s typical
