While this vacuum needs to either plugged in to charge, or the battery can be placed in the included charger, it is not "self charging". The charge is sufficient to do about 1200-1500 sq ft of tile and some throw rugs. Carpet setting takes more power and you also have a BOOST feature you will love but also takes some more power. I am very satisfied with the use-charge time this vac gives. It has not let me down yet. If I had a bigger home, I might think about a second battery but alternating days for parts of the house is free and easy. Very easy to empty dirt and runs quite quiet. It stands up by itself unlike a Dyson and has so many features that I have been searching for a recycle home for my other vacuums, no kidding. You can detach the power unit several ways that will meet every need you have form the floor the the ceiling fans and cars. You will be recycling your old vac too. This is a 5 star product!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We would like to inform you that this unit is not self charging. Once the battery has been depleted of charge you would need to plug the battery in to charge. Depending on the setting used the runtime of the battery would last between 18 to 50 minutes.
