I bought one and it does alot better then I expected. We have boarders between our living room, kitchen and hall then the rooms have carpets. It goes over all of it with no problem. Just a heads up if there are things ( socks, small toys, papers ect.....) on the floors it will pick it up and alert that it is jammed. Over all It has been the best for helping keep the floors clean with 2 kids. It does come with a barrier that it won't go pass so you would probably want to use it for the second floor that way it doesn't fall down the stairs.
