You must have wifi coverage in your home. You must also have smartphone (either Android based or Apple iPhone) and download and install the Shark app. The Shark IQ vac has no dedicated remote and requires the smartphone with Shark app to control the vac.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Vac comes with boundary “tape”, the tape is less tape and more a strip laid down which works great and is easy to hide. I am not sure if WiFi is required as you could run this by pushing the buttons on tops when the WiFi is not working. I will say WiFi makes this much more usable since you can get alerts of the robot sucks up something (a sock for example).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.WiFi is only necessary in order to use the remote programming capabilities I think. I am pretty sure that as with the old robot vacuums it knows how to return to its base to recharge without internet.
