Hi Mimi, That is a good question indeed. This Shark Lift-Away Professional Steam Pocket Mop (model#S3901) is not intended to be used on any furniture. In regards to the carpet, this unit can be used to groom and freshen your carpet and area rugs by using the carpet glider with the all-purpose head by lightly applying steam to the carpet or rug fibers.
