• Yes, off the bat. We just purchased this and we're returning it because we're afraid we have a defective iron. We let it sit for about five minutes on high ... and squirted some steam to make sure that worked okay. Great steam... however, when we tried ironing (and the waterline is slightly below MAX) we get spitting... of course, on the linen shirt... and everytime the iron is put on it's heel, it makes a loud CLUNK noise that is very disconcerting.

• Hello and thank you for your question. The Shark - Professional Lightweight Iron may not be hot enough. You could try setting the thermostat to the Max position. Be sure to always allow iron sufficient time to heat up (thermostat light goes off) before activating the variable steam selector. Best regards, Customer Care Team
