“does this unit have a fan that vents the cooking compartment while cooking ... my last unit, not a sharp, did not and in many cases steam from the cooking process remained in the unit until the door was opened the it then vented out.”

Regarding the Sharp 1.1 cu ft 1000W Countertop Microwave, yes it does technically have a vent fan, though it doesn't vent the steam very well, and yes, I made sure the unit has adequate spacing all around. Surprising, considering this is my third Sharp Carousel and never had this problem before.
