• You should only have to hit the off/on button.

• Hello Shirl, when you turn the unit on for the first time the unit will enter the demonstration mode, this means that you will see words scroll across the screen. To cancel this press the Demo button on the remote control once. The unit will then enter into the Bluetooth mode, press the ECO button once. You may then test the unit to see if the issue remains.
