Most of the amplified antennas are about the same but it is all about distance from the tower.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I dropped cable several years ago and have never regretted it. After reading various reviews (there are a lot of good websites where cordcutters share information) I got a Mohu Leaf antenna. I'm an apartment dweller and can't have any outside antenna. I got the powered version which adds a little reach for getting more distant stations. Location matters a lot with an antenna---where you are in relation to the transmission towers matters a lot as well as any interference from nearby buildings, etc. There is actually a website that lets you put your own address in to see whether you are close enough to get your local stations. You will find it via various cordcutter websites. That said, I have been very happy with my leaf antenna. It is subtle and attractive (the size and shape of a regular piece of letter paper) and gets good clear signal for all but one of my over the air stations (CBS, ABC, Fox, PBS, no NBC for some reason). I supplement this with a $7.99 monthly subscription to hulu, which has a LOT of TV programming, even the national newscasts and a Roku device which can get me on-demand PBS shows and lots and lots of other free movies, etc. Don't miss cable at all---in particular am glad to have the MUCH better picture quality you get without having to put the signal through the cable box which compresses and degrades the picture. The difference is VERY noticeable!
