“This tv has a button on the bottom beside the red light, which turns the tv on. However, I can't seem to get it to turn the tv off. Instead, brings up the menu. How do I use this to simply turn the tv on and off in case of remote control lost/failure?”

I discovered some things about the on/off button. Press the button to turn it on, press it several long seconds to turn it off; press it quickly while tv is on to bring up the input menu (which doesn't seem to give any real ability to access the menu or make menu selections. )
