No. When it comes to that question during set up skip it. You do not have to subscribe to Roku. That being said if you wish to access it from an iPhone or another device that may be a different story I have not gotten that far yet but I have not signed up for Roku and have plenty of other streaming services to use. However if I wish to watch it from my iPhone I may need you and you not know the answer to that yet
