Any device that will output 4K resolution, 3840 X 2160, thru the HDMI output will work just fine and the quality will not be dgraded. However, unless the device has the new HDMI 2.0 connections you will only get 3840 X 2160 @ 30hz refresh rate. If you want a 60hz refresh rate you'll need to have an external component that has HDMI 2.0. Can't go into all the technical information regarding TV broadcast, BluRay, etc, refresh rates but you can search the web and find a ton of informaiton on this. But the TV will Do full 4k in at either refresh rate Beautifully! But if you're talking about streaming 4k content off the web you don't need an external device. All you have to do is hook this TV up to your home network via the Ethernet port on the back and you can stream directly to the TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your device can produce a 4k signal at 30fps or 60fps then this TV will show it. I've not noticed any signal degradation and to the contrary everything looks great. I've used my computer gaming at 4k, and the Netflix app that comes with the TV and it's exceptional.

As long as you are connecting a 4K compatible source to the TV using HDMI there should be no downgrade in signal quality as it will be a digital signal. Please also make sure that your source is set to 4K at 60 frames per second.
