“Does the Sharp LC-43LB481U have a QAM tuner? College my son is attending says their cable system won't work on TV's without one. I called Sharp and I'm not quite sure the woman I spoke with even knew what I was talking about. Want to confirm.”

Yes, this TV does have a QAM tuner. I too had to have this feature for my son's dorm TV. When you set up the TV you just need to perform the Auto Search for Channels ( could take several minutes) But he was able to get all the channels that the college service offered.
