“Never used Roku tv. Is the Roku set up already? And what does it give me access to? I realize I need Internet but do I need anything else to actually watch all the channels Roku offers?”

The Roku functionality is built-in. Many of things in the Roku channel store are free, however some of the services like Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Now require a subscription to use. Other than that there are still plenty of free content to enjoy on Roku.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Roku is basically a hub that allows you to add apps or channels such as Netflix Hulu HBO and a whole bunch of other ones you must be subscribed one way or another to those services because Roku does not provide actual content besides being a hub.

Please try again later.Roku allows you to watch paid and free content from the Internet such as Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, YouTube, and much more, on your TV. Most of the programming is pre-recorded, not streaming in real time, so it's not a substitute for traditional cable TV, where you can surf live channels.

It gives you access to a bunch of channels, but if they're cable channels you have to have cable to access them. For example: there's a discovery channel on there, but without having cable access or a cable/satellite account, you can't watch it. That being said, I've heard there are some channels that you don't require anything other than internet, but I haven't sought them out.

WE DON'T USE THE ROKU ACTUALLY BECAUSE WE HAVE NETFLIX BUT IT SEEMED INTERESTING. IT SEEMED LIKE ALL THAT WE HAD TO DO WAS SET IT UP ON THE TV. THE TV WILL WALK YOU THROUGH IT THOUGH. WE HAVE DISH NETWORK BUT I STILL HAVE TO USE THE ROKU REMOTE BECAUSE IT WILL START WITH THE THAT HOME SCREEN AND YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE I HELPED MUCH. SORRY. BUT THE TV HAS THE BEST/SHARPEST PICTURE WE HAVE EVER HAD BUT THE SOUND ISN'T ALL THAT GREAT.
