Hello, this model does not have a mute button or mute feature.

The genius that said to "PRESS+HOLD+STOP" just taught you how to LOCK your microwave. Yes, it's technically silenced... but that's because it's LOCKED and cannot be used until you repeat the process and unlock it for use.

You can pause the cooking. Press the STOP button. Press the START button to resume. Alternately open the door.

im not sure if best buy is answering some of these questions as well as whoever chooses to such as me lol but all these answers are WRONG, yes this microwave has a silent mode all it takes is reading the manual. PRESS + HOLD + STOP button for 3 seconds for silent mode! smh although you can get an individual who actually reads the manual and has some sense to answer these questions every now and again. i STRONGLY urge @BESTBUY to no longer allow the public to answer ANY questions here. ONLY BEST BUY employees. THANK YOU have a nice and quiet afternoon woth your SHARP Carousel or any other SHARP microwave for that matter. lol smh people man gahh
