Excellent question! The DK-CL5P is compatible with many iPhone and iPod devices, however, it is not compatible with the iPod shuffle. The DK-CL5P can be set to play a desired source (like an iPod or radio tuner) or Buzzer sound for a 1 hour alarm cycle.
