• Is the tools button a dedicated button. If so the should work just fine. There all programmable.

• You can assign the A and B buttons to any of your existing remote control's (tv, receiver, dvd player, etc.) function as long as it used a traditional IR blast. I use the A button to change the sound field of the receiver, and the B button to change the input on the receiver.
