You do need to have Monitoring Service active in order for the system to communicate outside of the home - including for Smart Alerts. But to be clear, we do not have contracts. So you are able to subscribe and cancel service at any time.

You would have to enroll in one of the PLANS to get notification. A PLAN brings the SimpliSafe response center into the loop. Without any PLAN, you are simply using the system SIREN(s) to scare off the intruder.

You must sign up for the monthly service for notification and monitoring, but you don't have to sign a contract.

There’s no contract it’s month-to-month and yes you have to use the $25 a month service for those notifications .
