Yes, it has a very wide range. Honestly, that may reduce the false-positives from the street.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has 120 degree view. Therefore, half of your viewing is of your front wall....but stil can see who would be at your door (profile) and side view only as they walk into the viewing area if if were from the “back side” (righ) of the bell. If they approach from the LEFT side, or from the front I think it would be able to get their face until they’re at your door (profile at that time) If you’re okay with some limited angles - don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Still would have the chat option. One other thing to consider would be if you have side glass door panels, the doorbell could detect motion and record/activate at that point as well possibly. But see my review... not getting good people alerts, so in your circumstance, you may even have more of an issue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will work where ever you put it as long as it can be hooked up to your current doorbell wiring. But the thing to remember is it records straight ahead so if it is on a side wall it will record only someone that gets close to the door and not down the walkway like it would in a traditional doorbell placement.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is possible to mount it somewhere else but your wires would most likely be exposed and then vulnerable to intruders tampering with them. So if you do get it you'll want someone to drill a hole where you would like the simplisafe doorbell to be, rerun the wires to that hole, and then mount it there. It may be a little complicated but doable. Good luck!
