“I LIVE in an apt. and am having problems with water backing up in kitchen sink.I was wondering can this be used to warn of an overflow? The water is usualy full of grease. and was wonering if that would mess up the probe?”

• Yes as long you not submerge the probe.

• The Water Sensor should have no problem in that situation!

• The probe works by having metal contacts on the underside. When there is water between them, they conduct and send an alert. You should be able to wipe off the outside of any grease, but if the sensor is submerged I think it would probably break.
