“As I understand it, this unit will work with the Pioneer model DMH-W3050NEX but the antenna has to be in a position somewhere outside the car correct? The video says the antenna is hidden discreetly below the dash but shows it outside. Confusing”

Best Satellite radio reception requires the antenna to be mounted high on the outside of your vehicle ideally on the roof of the vehicle and at least 6 inches away from roof top racks. If you have a convertible then the antenna should be mounted on the trunk lid.
