• The one I bought had a single 8GB DIMM GeekSquad recommended Crucial Ballistix Sport LT BLS8G4D26BFSC (Note the last letter denoted color) to take it to 16GB

• No, only one slot is filled with an 8GB module. It is easy to install another 8GB.
