“I just purchased a insignia 6.7 electric dryer. It calls for a 30 amp breaker and i have a 40 amp breaker. Do I need to change it?”

The way the breaker works is that it's rated to "break" at >40 amps but your dryer cord is rated up to 30 amps. This means if there is an issue and greater than 30 amps is drawn on the unit the wiring inside the dryer and the cord to the dryer from the outlet can overheat and potentially cause a fire.
